I saw a "different" / "ugly" workaround. Is this really the way to implement it? There's simply no "automatic implements" at all?

Don't worry about it. It indeed generates two commands, but when invoking it, you need to write it as plugin:wifi-ctrl|check_permissions. There's an error in the documentation.
