Support for ACP session config options – mode and model

What feature would you like to see?

ACP agents can provide various config options, like mode (Plan, Always Ask, Always Allow) or model (switching between Sonnet and Opus in claude-agent-acp).

Are you planning to support these in Nori?

As a side note, it would be nice to see a roadmap around ACP feature support.

Agreed on the ACP roadmap! There's a lot of different features in the protocol, progressing at different paces, and it would be better for us to have one document we point to on what is supported / in-progress / planned

Definitely planning to support config options, I think that's probably the most overdue addition. Most other stable options, as well as a few of the experimental options, are now supported. Had earlier conversation about this in this thread: #390 (comment)

Let's move the discussion here to this thread, so we can specify up front in an issue, and I'll open new PRs for this throughout the week.

I would want to think a little bit about what the interaction is like with existing slash commands and Nori home config. The UI in your screenshot for thought level and model looks perfect, but one level above that I think we want to connect this to the existing slash commands. E.g. model we still want to support via the model slash command, and mode we probably want to support via "tab" or "shift+tab" that cycles a new UI highlight indicator. And then agents that broadcast custom configOptions will need to fall through to a general purpose form like what you presented.

I think it would also be ideal if the form you presented just gets run every time you switch agent to an ACP agent that does not yet have persisted session config choices within the Nori home config. E.g. I choose a new agent within /agent picker, and then as that process initializes and broadcasts, the user lands in session config form before anything else. That's a trickier change though, likely need to rip out the "pending agent switch" code.

Look forward to seeing the new changes. The main reason the implementation here (#390) didn't have specific UX elements was because this command was meant to support arbitrary configuration per the ACP spec. This doesn't mean there shouldn't be baked in "defaults" for specific configuration options (eg. mode) but having a generic pickers is also helpful for ACP backends that have custom configs.
