In our discussion of the below, we decided that what we really are hoping for is a tool where we can input a quote and then find which cipher(s) are appropriate for it, given the quote's length, chi-square value, and other text features. I think one thing that I pointed out in the below that would be helpful is having this new tool refer back to the same places the ideal quote lengths are listed in the Test Builder, so that as these get adjusted, we only need to change the desired length in one place. (On my mind is still whether we want to shorten the ideal length of the Baconians to increase uptake).
Original below: If I don't use the Test Builder to make a question, then being able to access the ideal cipher length would be helpful to make sure I'm not too far out of spec one way or the other.
To discuss: Is the Guidance the best place for that? Should we put it into the Question Editor somewhere instead? One possibility would be where it shows the Plain Text length, we could have the ideal appear in parentheses next to it. Aside from being more easily accessible, another nice part about doing it that way would be that we could populate it from the data that we already have in the Test Builder, which means that if we make changes to it (as we did for the Nihilist this year), we don't have to go back and edit multiple places.
