This Code of Conduct is based on the Contributor Covenant and customized for LearnHub and ECSoC participation standards.
We as members, contributors, mentors, and project admins pledge to make participation in LearnHub and ECSoC a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of age, body size, visible or invisible disability, ethnicity, sex characteristics, gender identity and expression, level of experience, education, socio-economic status, nationality, personal appearance, race, caste, color, religion, or sexual identity and orientation.
We pledge to act and interact in ways that contribute to an open, welcoming, diverse, inclusive, and healthy community.
Examples of behavior that contributes to a positive environment include:
- Demonstrating empathy and kindness toward others.
- Being respectful of differing opinions, viewpoints, and experiences.
- Giving and gracefully receiving constructive feedback.
- Accepting responsibility for mistakes and learning from them.
- Focusing on what is best for the overall community, not just individual gain.
- Following project rules, contribution workflows, and review decisions honestly and fairly.
- Respecting issue assignments, maintainer guidance, and collaboration boundaries.
Examples of unacceptable behavior include:
- The use of sexualized language or imagery, and unwelcome sexual attention or advances.
- Trolling, insulting or derogatory comments, and personal or political attacks.
- Public or private harassment.
- Publishing others’ private information, such as a physical or email address, without explicit permission.
- Misrepresenting work, copying another contributor’s active pull request, or claiming others’ contributions as your own.
- Creating duplicate accounts, fake identities, or deceptive activity to manipulate scoring, repository workflows, issue claims, or leaderboard outcomes.
- Opening empty, trivial, misleading, or low-effort pull requests for visibility, credit, or XP farming.
- Abusing labels, issue assignments, review flow, or maintainer trust for unfair advantage.
- Other conduct that could reasonably be considered inappropriate in a professional or collaborative setting.
Community leaders are responsible for clarifying and enforcing our standards of acceptable behavior and will take appropriate and fair corrective action in response to any behavior they deem inappropriate, threatening, offensive, harmful, dishonest, or abusive.
Community leaders have the right and responsibility to remove, edit, or reject comments, commits, code, wiki edits, issues, pull requests, and other contributions that are not aligned with this Code of Conduct, and will communicate reasons for moderation decisions when appropriate.
This Code of Conduct applies within all community spaces and also applies when an individual is officially representing LearnHub or ECSoC in public spaces.
Examples of representation include using an official email address, posting through an official social media account, participating in project or cohort discussions, or acting as an appointed representative at an online or offline event.
LearnHub follows the broader spirit of fair and honest open-source participation.
The following are encouraged:
- Discussing architecture, debugging approaches, and implementation strategies.
- Asking for help with setup, tooling, or environment issues.
- Using public documentation, official references, and learning resources.
- Collaborating respectfully without taking ownership of someone else’s assigned work.
- Communicating early if you are blocked, delayed, or unable to complete assigned work.
The following are prohibited:
- Copy-pasting another contributor’s active pull request code.
- Creating duplicate profiles or fake GitHub accounts to bypass project rules or contribution limits.
- Opening empty, trivial, or misleading pull requests to farm XP, attention, or repository activity.
- Manipulating labels, claims, issue state, assignments, reviews, or contribution flow to gain unfair advantage.
- Contributing to your own project in violation of ECSoC role restrictions, where applicable.
- Repeatedly ignoring maintainer decisions, review requirements, or contribution standards.
Instances of abusive, harassing, dishonest, or otherwise unacceptable behavior may be reported to the community leaders responsible for enforcement at udaysomapuram@gmail.com.
All complaints will be reviewed and investigated promptly and fairly.
All community leaders are expected to respect the privacy and security of the reporter of any incident.
