Patch Resolve 21

Works on version 21 (not the beta). I haven't tried other versions. Download the author's source file and replace the "main.rs" code with mine. It should work without rendering glitches. -> but if downloaded in a custom path it fails but with some basic editing the code it works no prob <333

its just saying that it cannot find davinci resolve when running it via "cargo run"

but this is my updated main.rs just to work for my path (main.rs.txt because i cant upload main.rs)

@itsmateo20 Yeah, auto-detection via Windows Registry is already there, just falls back to the default path if it fails. I could also add a fallback that checks both CURRENT_USER and LOCAL_MACHINE registry keys, but it may not work correctly on all systems. Just change the path manually for now))

well most users will download it in the default path anyways but i got a partition for windows it self, another for linux, and one big one for all programs, projects and games that i use for both windows and linux

-> there was a patch for linux already out (cuz there are more people like that on there) but audio is a bitch to setup for it to work on the davinci linux version (still havent got it to work so i stuck with the windows version)

resolve stopped placing those registry keys in 20.x

this is also part of the issue. I don't have a windows machine anymore. I'm linux-only. And I'm super busy irl.
If only resolve wasn't so annoying to get running on linux, literally getting withdrawals from video editing because I have no windows dualboot or gpu-passthrough VM. Can't do one of my favorite hobbies. L

Good job on finding the new checks. I hadn't looked at those yet. It'd be easier if Binja wasn't so slow with huge binaries and bindiff also didnt take ages. And I promise you I'm not running a toaster. Anyway, you kinda slapped the code on instead of using the existing patch framework or rewriting it to be more streamlined but I guess I'm just a perfectionist, it really doesn't matter. Cosmetic level criticism, not bashing you. Also: that signature is huge, will probably not last very long through updates.

actually reading more thoroughly I redact my criticism, it's pretty good.

Tnx. I’ll open a PR. And yeah, aware of the signature size but from what I’ve seen they’ve been systematically changing bytes between versions anyway, so it’ll likely need to be rewritten for each new update regardless. Doesn’t make much sense to optimize for longevity if the whole thing changes every version.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

i dont have it saved but when i used to look for it i used to search for things like "davinci resolve studio patch reddit" (because most things like that are on reddit and work most of the time) and most results were on r/pirate (or smth like that) that worked

the commands they provided are used to edit the binary of the davinci executable
