The bug
The problem is this: When you set custom audio files for alarms or timers, the export and later import loses the information of said settings.
To Reproduce
- Set some alarm's or timer's audio file to something external (e.g. your favorite MP3).
- Export the settings.
- Delete the app stored data (wipe the settings).
- Import your backup settings file.
- Have the alarm or timer go down. The formerly set audio file is no longer used, but some default setting in its place.
I haven't investigated it, yet, so I am not sure if the settings are not even exported in the first place, or not properly re-imported later. I only know that the file settings get lost along the way.
Expected behavior
Any cases of imported settings where the set file is missing, that should be fixed by using the default settings, just like now. But they should work out as intended (kept and re-applied) if the referenced files are still there.
Smartphone Information
- Device: Google Pixel 8a
- OS: Android 16
- App version: 0.6.0
Additional context
This is nothing new and one would think that importing the settings is a rather rare thing to do. But it is particularly annoying in conjunction with this bug. Because then you will have to wipe your settings every few weeks. And then you have to go about and set your files again for all alarms and timers you have configured again. You can imagine that this gets kind of tiresome after a few months.
