excessive whitespace/non-essential unicode in view output

Cf example output at #5:

• 2 lines of unrelated output before and after the tweets - 0 or 1 would be preferable
• the duck face on first line isn't present in my font (Monaco) and rendered as a blank line (with fat whitespace character).
