Grant level

  • Level 1: Up to $10,000, 2 approvals
  • Level 2: Up to $30,000, 3 approvals
  • Level 3: Unlimited, 5 approvals (for >$100k: Web3 Foundation Council approval)

Application Checklist

  • The application template has been copied and aptly renamed (project_name.md).
  • I have read the application guidelines.
  • Payment details have been provided (Polkadot AssetHub (USDC & DOT) address in the application and bank details via email, if applicable).
  • I understand that an agreed upon percentage of each milestone will be paid in vested DOT, to the Polkadot address listed in the application.
  • I am aware that, in order to receive a grant, I (and the entity I represent) have to successfully complete a KYC/KYB check.
  • The software delivered for this grant will be released under an open-source license specified in the application.
  • The initial PR contains only one commit (squash and force-push if needed).
  • The grant will only be announced once the first milestone has been accepted (see the announcement guidelines).
  • I prefer the discussion of this application to take place in a private Element/Matrix channel. My username is: @_______:matrix.org (change the homeserver if you use a different one)

@breckinzephan-dot Thanks for the grant application. Could you take a look at our new grant guidelines [here] and help us understand how your project fits into them? Additionally, since you are an individual founder, you are eligible to apply for Fast Grants. Could you consider submitting your project there? It would be possible to fund Milestone 1 for example. Also, could you provide a concrete example of what your project can do?

Hi @diogo-w3f,
Thank you for reviewing my application and for your helpful feedback.
I’ve gone through the new grant guidelines, and I believe my project “Humanized AI Platform” fits into the Tooling and Infrastructure category — it focuses on integrating AI with decentralized applications to enhance human–machine collaboration on Web3 systems.

I’ll also consider applying for the Fast Grants program as an individual founder.

Here’s a brief example of what the project can do:

  • Feature: A decentralized AI assistant that helps users interact with smart contracts in natural language.
  • Goal: To make Web3 tools more accessible to non-technical users.
  • Tech Stack (planned): React, Node.js, and Substrate SDK.

Please let me know if I should resubmit under the Fast Grants form or continue with this milestone format.

Thanks again for the guidance!

Thanks for the application, @breckinzephan-dot, but please stick to our application template. Currently, the document is missing a lot of information needed to assess it.

Thank you for submitting a grant application.

We've assessed your submission and have found that it requires a higher level of technical detail in order to be considered for review. We encourage you to expand on it by providing a more precise specification/technical details. The section on project details in the application template is a good reference as to what type of information we expect applicants to provide, and these category-specific requirements contain more precise guidelines depending on what type of software you're building.

An area of the application that we often find to be insufficiently elaborated are the milestone deliverables. At a minimum, please indicate what languages/technologies you will be using to implement each deliverable, and provide a technical summary of its expected functionality. Note that deliverables should be tangible, reusable by other teams and in most cases not already present in the ecosystem. If they are, you will need to provide a comparison to existing implementations and explain why it makes sense to fund your approach. Also see our FAQ for a breakdown of what we fund and what we don't.

Let us know as soon as you're done with your changes, and we'll give your application another look!

Thanks for the detailed feedback! I've revised the application following the template and category-specific guidelines:

Key updates:

  • Added technical architecture (React → Node.js → Substrate pallet via Polkadot-JS API)
  • Detailed stack: React/Next.js, Node.js, Substrate SDK, on-chain anchoring with optional IPFS
  • Concrete M1 deliverables: storeContent pallet function signature, UI mockup plan, demo video
  • Acceptance criteria and security considerations
  • Progress signals (scaffolded repo, CI pipeline)

As a solo founder, M1 fits Fast Grants eligibility ($15K). Ready for re-review whenever you have time!

Best,
Owoyemi (breckinzephan-dot) 🚀

Hi! Following up on the revised application, incorporated technical details (React/Node.js/Substrate stack), progress signals (scaffolded repo), milestones with acceptance criteria, and security notes per the guidelines. As a solo founder, Fast Grants for M1 seems perfect if it fits. Any initial thoughts or next steps? Happy to clarify!

Best,
Owoyemi Ademola (breckinzephan-dot) 🚀

Hi @breckinzephan-dot thanks for the application. Could you please check the box for level 1 in the PR above, if that's the level you are applying for?

Additionally, the application still doesn't quite adhere to the template. Could you please add a 'Team Name:' and 'Payment Details:' section at the top? See here for details.

The application is also still missing the Ecosystem Fit section and Team section, which should include the details of your legal entity.

Towards the bottom, above the milestone delivery table, an Overview section still needs to be added as well.

Please make these changes and let us know when to take another look. This allows the application to be properly parsed and entered into our records. Thank you!

@breckinzephan-dot In addition to the template format, I see that you mentioned your application will develop pallets. Can you explain how they will be deployed? Will it be a Parachain? We are looking for projects that can help increase DOT token usage, can you explain how your project would be capable of doing that?

@diogo-w3f Thanks for the additional feedback! Happy to clarify the deployment plan.

The custom pallets (e.g., storeContent for content anchoring) will be developed using Substrate's runtime modules and deployed as part of a parachain on the Polkadot relay chain. This allows the platform to leverage Polkadot's shared security, interoperability, and XCM for cross-chain content ownership, ensuring seamless integration with other parachains. Initial testing will use a local Substrate node or Kusama testnet, with full deployment via a parachain slot auction on Polkadot mainnet post-M2.

Regarding DOT token usage, LumeAI will increase DOT demand in several ways:

  • Parachain Slot Auctions: Securing a slot requires bonding DOT (e.g., 500K+ DOT for a 2-year lease), drawing from community crowdsourcing and incentivizing holders to participate.
  • Transactions and Fees: User interactions (e.g., content generation and on-chain anchoring) will incur DOT fees, boosting network activity.
  • Staking and Governance: The platform encourages DOT staking for validators supporting the parachain, and users can participate in governance, increasing overall DOT utility and velocity.
  • Ecosystem Growth: By enabling undetectable AI content for creators (e.g., DeFi/NFT marketing), it attracts more users to Polkadot, driving DOT adoption through dApp usage and token flows.

This aligns with Polkadot's goals for scalable, user-centric tooling. Let me know if you'd like more details on the parachain setup or a deployment diagram!

Best,
Owoyemi Ademola (breckinzephan-dot) 🚀

@breckinzephan-dot Thanks for the changes. Just one thing, Level 1 is up to $10k. Fast Grants is a bounty program, and you can find more information here. The W3F Grants Program and the Fast Grants Bounty have different rules, so please don’t mix them. Adjust your application accordingly.

This PR contains the LumeAI Fast Grant (Level 1) application.
The request is for $5,000 to develop the MVP milestone, including:
- Substrate pallet (`storeContent`)
- API layer
- Frontend demo for content verification
- Technical documentation and test suite

@diogo-w3f Thank you for the opportunity to submit our proposal.

This PR includes the LumeAI – Fast Grant (Level 1) application for an initial $5,000 MVP milestone under the Fast Grants program.
We’ve adjusted the request according to the Fast Grant guidelines and ensured that all information is aligned with Level 1 requirements.

We look forward to your feedback and are happy to make any adjustments needed.

@breckinzephan-dot, this is NOT the Fast Grants Program. We use a slightly different process and application template. If you want to apply for a Fast Grant, please go here: https://github.com/Polkadot-Fast-Grants/apply.

Added a detailed project proposal for LumeAI, outlining the overview, problem statement, proposed solution, development status, team, funding request, deliverables, use of funds, and contact information.

Thank you for updating the PR, @breckinzephan-dot. Could you please

  • remove the Fast Grants file from this PR and
  • provide some proof of the "Smart contract & dApp development" experience that you have? This could be open source contributions, deployed apps/contracts, publications.

Thank you for the clarification, @semuelle

I’ve now submitted the proposal to the correct Polkadot Fast Grants repository as suggested.
Closing this PR to avoid confusion.
Really appreciate your guidance!
