Investigating the issue the translations are returned from the API and this seem to work as expected in other languages. The web interface and iOS also look better though missing some translation.
The issue looks similar with #16423 (comment)

Noting a couple specifics from the initial user report in 8023631-zd-a8c:

• This user has their interface language set to Chinese (Taiwan) and noticed that the Activity Log filters are in English and the heading on the filters screen is in Simplified Chinese (i.e. Chinese (China)).
• In Chinese (China), the exact same is true: filters (and activity log event descriptions) are in English, filter heading is in Simplified Chinese (which is expected for that interface language selection).
• Activity Log screen heading is untranslated in all languages that I checked. Unsure if that's expected.

This issue is still applicable as of March 2026. Nothing has changed in the codebase to address it.

The root cause is that the untranslated strings come from the WordPress.com REST API, not from local string resources in the app:

• Event titles/descriptions (summary, content.text) — fetched from the API and displayed as-is
• Filter option names (e.g., "Posts and Pages", "Media") — fetched from the API via ActivityTypeModel.name
• Only the filter UI chrome (header, Apply/Clear buttons) uses local translated strings

Since the translations are server-side, this can't be fixed in the Android app alone — it requires the WordPress.com API to return properly translated activity log content when the locale parameter is set. The issue equally affects iOS and Web, as noted in the earlier comments.
