Featured image doesn't display on Facebook app when sharing a post from the WordPress mobile app

It was reported in 4080982-zd-woothemes that the featured image doesn't display on the Facebook app when sharing a post from the WordPress mobile app to the Facebook app. However, if the post link was copied and pasted on the Facebook app, the featured image displays on the Facebook app.

Expected behavior

It was expected that the featured image can be displayed on the Facebook app when the post is shared from the WordPress mobile app.

Actual behavior

The featured image doesn't display on the Facebook app when sharing a post from the WordPress mobile app.

Steps to reproduce the behavior

1. Create a post with a featured image in the WordPress mobile app.
2. At My Site > Blog Posts, tap the three dots beside the post with the featured image and select "Share".
3. Choose the Facebook app.
4. See that the preview card on the Facebook app doesn't display the featured image.
5. Repeat the same step in (2), but instead of choosing the Facebook app, tap "Copy".
6. Open up the Facebook app, create a new post with the link copied in Step (5).
7. See that the preview card on the Facebook app displays the featured image.

Note: According to my test results, this happens on WordPress.com and Jetpack sites but on a self-hosted WordPress site.

Tested on iPhone SE, iOS 14.6, WPiOS 17.6.0.5

@startuptester Sorry, I haven't tested sharing from the WP app to the Facebook app so I'm not able to tell.

I'm able to reproduce this as well on iOS 16.4.1 and JP App 22.3.

I discovered this while helping a user with an issue when sharing a post on Facebook.
