browser.notifications.onButtonClicked API not working in wxt dev browser

So I have been trying to listen for browser.notifications.onButtonClicked.addListener API in the background.ts. However the listener doesn't work at all in the wxt default dev browser. Although, it works fine in my normal chrome browser. Here's all the things I have tried:

• Making the service worker persistent with a ping message like this:
  setInterval(() => { browser.runtime.sendMessage('ping') }, 300)
• Using the listener at the top of defineBackground function and also at the top of background file
• Persisting the chrome profile and adding chrome flags :

• OS: Windows
• Chrome Version: latest on both browser setup

• Added the notifications permission in manifest via the defineConfig function.
• WXT version: ^0.20.25
